Where the film ends
An edge is the part you actually touch.
It's what your hip finds, what the dishwasher door swings past, what a bottle knocks on the way down. Protecting the top and stopping at the edge protects the part nobody was worried about.
Over the surface · and under the edge
A cut on the surface leaves a seam where your hand rests. Ours finishes underneath the bench, where no cloth, nail or spill will ever find it.
It takes two people and a lot more film to wrap a mitred edge, and there are profiles that won't accept one. We'll tell you which before we start rather than after. That's the whole difference, and it's the reason we've never had to explain a lifting corner.
We started doing this in 2019, and we're still the only crew in Victoria that wraps the edge and tucks underneath rather than cutting on top. It's a photo nobody else can take — because there's nothing under their bench to hold.
The stain test
Red wine. Five minutes. One wipe.
The same wine that etches into raw marble beads up on the film and lifts with a single pass of the cloth. Nothing soaks in, and nothing is left behind.

Marble doesn't stain on the surface. Acid eats into it.
Wine, lemon, vinegar and most cleaning products react with the stone itself. Once it's etched, it's a grinding and re-polishing job — not a cleaning one. A film is cheaper than a restoration, and far cheaper than a new slab.

Two finishes
Match the stone you chose, not the film.
Once it's on, you shouldn't be able to tell it's there. Pick the finish that reads as the surface you specified.
Satin
Honed. Diffuses light, hides fingerprints, sits quietly. The right call for dark stone and large islands.
Gloss
Polished. Holds a reflection and pulls depth out of the veining. Matches most stone as it leaves the fabricator.
Installation
One wet pass, done properly.
The team came out of vinyl and signage before starting Stone Film in 2019. The film is only as good as the pass that lays it, and there is no second pass.
Step 01
Measure and template
Every run, return and cut-out. Send dimensions with your enquiry and we can usually price it without visiting.
Step 02
Clean the stone
Water and a soap solution. No solvents, no primers, nothing that soaks in before the film goes down.
Step 03
Wet-lay and squeegee
The film floats into place on the solution, then it's worked out from the centre. As the water leaves, the adhesive activates against the stone — reaching full bond at 24 hours.
Step 04
Wrap the edge
One hand above, one below. The film goes over the arris and terminates underneath the lip.

Before you ask.
Why does the edge matter so much?
Because it's where the film either ends in the open or disappears. A termination on the top surface is a seam sitting where your hands and cloths go. Wrapping over and finishing underneath means there's no edge to lift, catch or work a spill under.
Can you tell it's there?
Applied wet and squeegeed flat, it sets against the stone with no visible seam or glue line, and in the matching finish it reads as the surface itself.
What does the warranty cover?
Ten years on residential jobs, against manufacturing defects — yellowing, cracking and delamination. It doesn't cover damage from negligence.
How do I clean it?
A damp cloth. The ceramic layer is hydrophobic, so water beads off and dirt, grime and mould have nothing to hold onto. No sealing, no polishing, no special products.
What if it gets scratched?
Minor scratches self-heal with heat. Boiling water over the mark, or a pass with a hairdryer, usually closes it up.
Are there edges you can't wrap?
A few profiles won't take a wrap cleanly. We identify those when we quote, not on installation day.
